About us

Home Page
Quilt Project Gold Coast is a locally based nonprofit with an all-volunteer group and no overhead. All of our funds go directly to displays and HIV/AIDS awareness raising, and our volunteer efforts include information booths, displays at health fairs, churches, synagogues, colleges and festivals, as well as a speakers bureau and our very fun Quilting bees.
Our Mission is to create and display AIDS Memorial Quilts in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties for the purpose of raising awareness of HIV/AIDS, remembering those lost to the disease, and helping survivors cope with the loss of their loved one.

After a spike in Ventura County more than doubled HIV diagnoses between 2016 and 2017, the Quilt Project Gold Coast — which encompasses Santa Barbara and Ventura counties — has been working to get the number down to zero.
To raise awareness that HIV/AIDS remains a potent danger in the community, in October, Gold Coast is bringing back two of the quilts made to remember the thousands of people who died in the U.S. AIDS epidemic before treatments were developed.

How do I donate?

You can donate directly through our PayPal link. All proceeds go towards materials and showings.

How do I volunteer?

There are many ways to get involved with Quilt Project Gold Coast, foremost among them MAKING QUILTS for Ventura or Santa Barbara county residents lost to AIDS. You can design a panel and join us at our Quilting bees to select the right materials and put together the panel. Or you can design a panel (with our assistance or not) that we can make for you. All panels are kept locally to display and raise awareness of HIV/AIDS as well as remember the name of your lost loved one. They remain a part of our community when people see their names and hear their stories! If the sewing arts are a bit daunting, you can always help us during our informational booths at local health fairs and festivals, or during our events such as our annual harbor cruise, or even helping fold our quarterly newsletter The Stitch’n Times.
