2023 Sold-Out Cruise The Best Yet!

WINNERS of the costume competition pose with their trophies

With a sold-out crowd for the Hooray For Hollywood Cruise, quilt Project raised much-needed funds to help in its education and awareness-raising for the year ahead!

With the evening dedicated to the memories of Lois, Jean and Garth Story, the paddlewheel Scarlett Belle kept on turning through the Channel Islands with numbers from stars BellaDonna SantaBarbara and Vivian Storm, backed by the legendary DJ Steve Sharp, who also kept dancers busy with smash hits and scary songs on the Friday before Halloween.

A scrumptious smorgasbord and dessert filled many appetites, and costumes were awarded with trophies from Santa Barbara Trophy, with guests leaving at the end of the 3-hour cruise with a swag-bag filled with goodies curated by Decorations Chair Ron Oehler.

Johnny Ortez-Tibbels did his usual professional photography, and Steve Zambrano Jr once again handled the drawing ticket sales. Special shoutouts to Cindy Copeland Burrell for her calligraphy, and Cindy Hazlett for helping with setup! A Hollywood backdrop for photos allowed people to vogue and pose for Johnny’s paparazzi shots.

No harbor cruise could happen without the support of generous sponsors, including Gilead, Mark Lager & Garland Jacobs, and Keith & Neil Coffman-Grey (Platinum); Amgen Pride, Marc Goldman, Jeff Hall and Claude Raffin in memory of Jon Gathercole (Gold); and Blake Mashburn, Realtor with Century 21 Fine Homes & Estates, Donna & Shawn Klinge in memory of Jason Albert Jones, John Robles & Jerry Gray, Sanders Landscape Company, The Little Things Bakery, Joseph A. Rund Law Office, Craig & Ber’! Chapman, The Barbershop at The Collection, Keith Goss, Andeya Garcia, and Ron Oehler in memory of Michael Scheck (Silver).

Drawing prizes were graciously donated by Coast 2 Coast, The Barbershop, Craig Chapman, Keith Coffman-Grey,
Neil The Wandmaker, Island Packers, SAS Shoes, Marc Goldman, Gold Coast Card Players Club, Heart Space Yoga,
Shoreline Cafe, The Little Things Bakery and Mark Lager, as well as mugs from quilt Project Gold Coast.
Quilt Project thanks all of our festive party-goers and looks forward to seeing many of you again next year!
