Quilt Project Gold Coast, in conjunction with Prime Timers of the Central Coast and the Santa Barbara County Public Library, is displaying three dozen AIDS Memorial Quilts at the Santa Barbara Library’s Faulkner Gallery through the month of July.

After setting up the panels with help from volunteers with the Pacific Pride Foundation, as well as library officials, QPGC on July 2 hosted a reception for First Thursday Art Walk.

Dozens of arts patrons viewed the Quilts, participated in interactive Quilt activities, and learned about QPGC, the history of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, and the men, and for the first time woman, Sylvia LaBonte, featured on the Quilt panels.

The exhibit was coordinated by QPGC Board Member Marc Goldman, who also put together last year’s event at the Faulkner. This year the exhibit will be shown during the entire month, with brochures and literature to let library patrons know that AIDS is still among us in the Gold Coast.
