VIGIL BEGINS AT 5:30 PM
NOW MORE THAN EVER WE NEED TO GATHER IN COMMUNITY. Quilt Project Gold Coast’s World AIDS Day vigil will take place on Sunday, December 1st, at 5:30 on the front steps of Ventura City Hall, 501 Poli Street near Downtown Ventura, for World AIDS Day.
The annual vigil will remember those lost to the pandemic and include AIDS Memorial Quilts visible from 2pm through the observance from 5:30 – 6:30pm. The vigil itself will feature:
- an introduction from President Keith Coffman-Grey
- invocations from Rev. Melissa Campbell Langdell, Rev. Dana Worsnop and more
- a musical selection from Mark Lager
- a reading of the City of Ventura proclamation from Councilman Doug Halter
After the program, those in attendance may light a candle for their lost loved one, and battery-powered candles, courtesy of the City of Ventura, will be provided for everyone during the period of silence on the steps of City Hall to remember those lost to the disease.
