The President’s Column – Spring 2025

Board President Keith Coffmann-Grey speaks at the World AIDS Day 2024 vigil

This is the 7th year of The Stitch’n Times newsletter, and I want to thank Neil Coffman-Grey, who has been Editor since the beginning.

Quilt Project Gold Coast (QPGC) has been holding Quilting bees the 2nd and 4th Wednesday from January to November since its founding in 2018.

The first Quilting bees were in the front rooms of our Santa Barbara home. A year after that, UU Church of Ventura offered usage of Berg Hall, which still hosts our bimonthly Quilting bees. Thanks so much to UUCV for their support!
During covid-19, we restarted the Quilting bees after a long pause in the back yard of Andy and Manny Edgar-Beltran, and we are grateful to the EdgarBeltran family for both opening up their home and their continued dedication to remembering the names.

All of the Quilts we make are kept locally so that we can display them throughout the Gold Coast counties of Ventura and Santa Barbara.

We currently have over 40 completed panels that we have sewn by hand, with more currently under production and files created for another half-dozen ready to be started .

QPGC has a dedicated group of people who create and show the Quilts. We
are always looking for more volunteers to help make Quilt panels from our list of names.

All skills are welcome! Our Quilting bees are held at UU Church of Ventura, 5654 Ralston Street in Ventura, from 6:30-8:30 on the second and fourth Wednesdays Jan.-Nov. Enter Berg Hall from the back parking lot.
