VIGIL BEGINS AT 5:30PM
Now more than ever it is so important to gather in community. Quilt Project Gold Coast’s World AIDS Day candlelight vigil will take place on Monday, December 1st, at 5:30 on the front steps of Ventura City Hall, 501 Poli Street near Downtown Ventura, for World AIDS Day.
The annual vigil will remember those lost to the pandemic and include AIDS Memorial Quilts visible from 2:30pm through the observance from 5:30 – 6:30pm. The vigil itself will feature:
- an introduction from President Keith Coffman-Grey
- invocations led by Bp. Manny Edgar-Beltran
- a musical selection from I’ve Seen Better Elephants
- a reading of the City of Ventura proclamation
Battery-powered candles, courtesy of the City of Ventura, will be provided for everyone during the period of silence on the steps of City Hall to remember those lost to the disease. After the program, those in attendance may light a candle for their lost loved one.
