World AIDS Awareness Activities

Honor students participate in the Quilt display and Quilting bee at Cal Lutheran University

Although World AIDS Day is Dec. 1, for Quilt Project it is a weekslong series of awareness-raising, and Fall 2025 was no different, including our Quilt display and Quilting bee at Cal Lutheran University (above) on Nov. 18. Three tables of honors student led by Prof. Adina Nack participated.

On Nov. 30, QPGC participated in two services at All Saints Episcopal Church in Oxnard, with Rev. Melissa Campbell Langdell (pictured left with QPGC President Keith Coffman-Grey) officiating.

The Sunday services were conducted in English and Spanish, with Keith speaking about the history of AIDS and the Quilt in Ventura County.

In addition to the QPGC presentation, volunteers put up a dozen Quilts in the church as well as an information table, and were on hand after mass to answer questions and talk to parishioners about the AIDS Memorial Quilt.

On Dec. 7 QPGC attended the services at Universalist Unitarian Church of Santa Paula, with thanks to UUSP Board member Jerry Gray (pictured right, seated, with QPGC Vice President Mark Lager).
Quilt Project displayed Al DS Memorial Quilts around the church and reception area, and Vice President Mark Lager spoke about the unique history of the National and local Quilts.
During the reception, QPGC volunteers answered questions about the Quilt, with several literature tables for attendees.
